another episode is where Marge goes to College in the 90s and Homer is in a rock band or when Homer’s dad is a british man.

These reasons are why my favorite episodes are from the early to mid 90′s.

It being a cartoon, the show could conceivably last 100 years without the characters ever getting any older, so eventually it will be pretty unbelievable, for instance, that Marge’s mother is a 60′s era hippie terrorist on the lamb. I guess newer episodes need to be more contemporary.
