I think I’d have to say that Homer is my favourite simpson, with Lisa trailing closely behind. I’d say he was the best between season 3- season 7. After that, during the mid-season episodes, he was really aggressive and a real jerk. Anyway, I like him because despite his brilliant dimwittedness, incredible laziness and other shortcomings, he’s still got a good heart. He loves his family and will go out to help them and usally tries to solve the problems that he most likely unwittingly caused lol. Basically, he’s really lovable. He’s helped his “mortal enemy” Ned Flanders. He’s helped (or tried to) help a stranger Apu. He’s always been faithful to Marge. etc

I also like Lisa. Although she’s not as funny, I still admire her wisdom, her morals, her passion and her benevolent nature. And although a lot of people say that Homer and her are complete opposites, I find one strong resemblance between them: their endearing optimism. Homer has a lousy dead end job where his boss doesn’t even remember his name, he’s bald and he’s only 38 (I think), he’s faced with the fact that he’s slow, and he had to deal with the absence of his mother or any warm nurturing upbringing, and yet, he still manages to get joy out of the little things; he’s so thrilled on “new bill board day” (the day where all the bill boards are changed). Lisa’s optimism is a little different where she is faced with a real dilemma and embraces it and still it doesn’t manage to deter her passionate ambitions to change the world for the better; she never lost hope after her “lisa lion heart” was outsold by the outrageously sexist export from the Malibu Stacey company and she continued to kindle her aspiration for gender equality by concluding that as long as one little girl bought her doll, it still made up for the hundred other that didn’t.

I also admire Marge for her infinite tolerance and capability for overlooking people’s shortcomings to see their inner goodness as well as her general sweet nature. I like Bart too. People mistake him for a “bad boy” but honestly, he just craves attention. He’s the class clown. He always tries to irritate principal Skinner but that’s just because he’s an “authority figure.” When Skinner was fired, Bart actually had compassion for him and tried to get him his job back. Also, he’s friends with the biggest poindexter Milhouse and the school bullies don’t see any discernible reason not to not pulverize him as they would to like Martin Prince. He’s not that bad. Anyway, I still like Homer and Lisa as my favourites.

P.s. Homer’s mom is Mona.
