In The Simpsons, it is never said what state Springfield is in.

In The Simpsons Movie, Ned Flanders mentions to Bart Simpson that Springfield is bordered by Ohio, Nevada, Maine, and Kentucky. Springfield also is quite in common with Portland, Oregon because Matt Groening(creator of the simpsons grew up there)

David Silverman (director of The Simpsons) has claimed that Springfield is in ”North Takoma”.

Also Homer’s driver license displays the state as NT and the ZIP code as 49007, which is Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Although The Area Codes for Springfield have also been stated as 636 (East-Central Missouri) and 939 (Puerto Rico).

There have been numerous running clues to Springfield’s location. In the Episode, ‘Sunday, Cruddy Sunday’, Marge gives the address as, “742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield, Ohi-a-Maude!”. This led to the possible assumption that Springfield is located in Ohio, however some dispute this.

The True State of Springfield is unknown and not revealed yet.

and the guy below, he is wrong because Springfield is not in Texas. In one episode they go to texas. They do not live there.

I don’t know for certain but I am guessing Ohio myself. I know it is confusing in some episodes but I remember one part in an episode that stands out for me.
I wish I could remember exactly but Marge was calling out her address to some one on the phone saying “742 Evergreen Terrace…Springfield…” Then she says straight away “Oh Hiya Maude, come on in” (Ohio???) as Maude Flanders enters the room at the same time.

They never tell you what state. They only say Springfield, The name “Springfield” is a common one in America and appears in over half of the states.Springfield’s geography, and that of its surroundings, contain coastlines, deserts, vast farmland, tall mountains, or whatever the story or joke requires. Springfield has much in common with Portland, Oregon.

Who cares really.

At least we know where Family Guy takes place. Rhode Island.

I believe the Simpsons live in Kentucky.
