There are several cities named Springfield in the US; one of them is in Michigan.
Many Simpsons’ fan try to guess where the ‘real’ Springfield is, imagining that it is based on a real city named Springfield. (The Simpsons’ writers insist they have no intention on basing this on a real place, but fans keep trying to guess anyway.) There are many contradictory clues on the show, but many of them point to the Midwest, which suggests Springfield, Illinois, or Springfield, Michigan.
(By the way, neither Springfield, Illinois, or Springfield, Michigan, would be big enough to have – as on the Tv show – a nuclear reactor.)
