The Simpsons

Watch some episodes. Homer is a good father, because in the long run, he does care for his children, but he doesn’t act like it. He acts like he cares more about donuts and television and booze than them, especially in the Simpsons movie (watch it! Even if you have never seen the Simpsons, you will get it. It’s hilarious.)

Are you from Russia? Because they are wanting to ban it there. To replace it with a patriotic youth network!

well they had one episode air last night. it was about growing up springfield. some documentary guy was special guest. he would check it on them every 8 yrs to document them from childhood to present time. by the end of the epsiode the doc. guy portrays homer to be bad but he comes to his senses and edits scenes from the whole documentary. by the end, homer watches what people said about him. and bart says if was cool to have him around when he was working cuz i could spend more time w him. and lisa says sumtin about tucking her in, not sure.
ANYWAZE, this is one episdoe that can be an example of homers being a father.
oh and theres another where bart signs up for a big brother and in turn homer signs up for a little brother.
and theres another where homer and marge are put on trial for being bad parents. or sumtin

Geez, so many people that don’t watch the show! Trust me, I watch it religiously. Homer tries very hard to be a good father but he is ultimately bad at it.

Good Points (with examples):
When his kids are upset he feels their pain:
Homer talking to Marge… “You broke a promise to your daughter, then she cried then I cried, then Maggie laughed, she’s such a little trooper”
Homer takes an Are You A Good Father quiz and fails miserably, so he goes to an institute to learn to be a good father so he can spend more time with his son and eventually passes.
When Homer is given 24 hours to live in one episode he teaches Bart how to shave, how to be a man, etc, and makes a video for all his children saying sweet things like “I wish I could see you grow up” kind of stuff, but then yells at Bart’s friend for calling in the middle of the video.

Bad Points:
Homer strangles Bart almost every episode because Bart aggrivates him, but then sometimes he ends the strangles with a hug.
Homer doesn’t know a thing about any of his children, like favorite colors, hobbies, anything.

He ultimately does love his children and wants to be a good father he is just too dumb to be good at it. It really would help if you watched 3-4 episodes, the best are from seasons 4 through 6
