How do I make Marge and Homer Simpson ...

Simpsons FAQ | 3.10.2011 18:30 | 4 Comments

My boyfriend and I would like to go as Marge and Homer Simpson for Halloween this year. We are trying to figure out how to pull this off making the costumes for cheap with the least amount of sewing possible. We would also like to figure out how we can pull off having Bart, Lisa, and Maggie without actually having anyone dress up as them. Any ideas? Please please please and thanks in advance!

Marge is a simple green tube dress and a red pearl necklace. For her hair I suppose you could buy a blue beehive wig.
Homer is a white button-down shirt and blue pants.

For the kids, how about photos in your wallet?

I think people will know who you are even if you don’t paint yourselves yellow, but I would. For Homer, I would get a bald cap (they’re inexpensive), paint the brown stubble/muzzle around the mouth, get a white collar shirt and jeans. If your boyfriend isn’t already fluffy, make him look chubby under the shirt.
Marge is going to be a bit more difficult. I would get a green dress (spaghetti straps) don’t use the straps though. Get some red flats and red pearls. The hair…I would do the hair posterboard attached to a headband honestly. I mean, everybody is going to know who you are.
Good luck!

As the first user already mentioned, blue beehive wig for Marge. They sell those at IParty.

Bart Lisa and Maggie. Hmm. Well Maggie you can go to AC Moore and cut out yellow sheets of that flexible foam that the sell. You know which ones I mean right? They’re think sheets of colored foam. Make the hair shape, place them on a baby doll a a baby blue bunting or something similar and a pacifier.

Bart and Lisa you can’t carry. How about life sized dolls of them? You can just have them stand next to you when you talk to people?

Roll a piece of poster board into a tube shape and fit it to your head. Once you have the correct size, glue it together. Glue quilt batting all around the cone and let dry. Then spray with blue paint to make Marge Simpson’s hair. I also found an inexpensive (approx $18) homer mask. Check it out:

Happy Halloween and hope this helps!
