out of ideas because its been on so long.

Many fans would agree that the tenth season was the last good one. They have started to repeat themselves, and contradict their history. They depend on guests of the week to get audiences. In addition, they seem to rely more heavily on the trilogy episodes like the Halloween ones but putting Simpson characters into other stories.

When the show started it was revolutionary. The character design was crazy. Bart flouted the authority of his strangling, foolish, father. The whole show was a smack in the face to the family sitcom genre with the message that authority doesn’t always want what’s good for you. But it’s shock has gone and so has much of the lengths of what it can do. But it will persist, at least for now, as long as people continue to watch it, writers still want to write it, and there is pop culture to parody.
