The Simpsons “Best. 20 Years. Ever.,” celebration will culminate in January of next year with a documentary special entitled “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3D on Ice” airing on Thursday, January 14th, the 20th anniversary of the series’ debut.
The special will document how the world sees The Simpsons and how the Simpson family has seen the world for two decades. It will be directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, star of “Super Size Me” and “30 Days”.
“When they first called me about this, I thought it was a prank and I hung up,” said Spurlock. “And then my agent called back and said, ‘No, no, this is for real,’ at which point I fainted. Then when I woke up, I called everyone I knew because it was the coolest thing I could ever get to do in my career.”
Note that this special is neither in 3D nor on ice.

“Stark Raving Dad,” the season three opener of The Simpsons , is a hilarious and heartwarming half-hour. It reminds me of the show’s best days when it delivered that perfect blend of bizarre humor, social commentary and unexpected sweetness.
